Bij Design Matters zag ik dit filmpje (klik) en dat zette mij aan het denken. 

Voor sommigen is het natuurlijk allang bekend terrein, maar ik heb, door al die jaren in het buitenland zonder art quilters om me heen, nog een inhaalslag te maken

Some of you know this technique already for a long time, but for me, after living for many years in different countries without art quilters around me, it is all very new

Op een proeflapje bedekt met tule, probeer ik de eerste stiksteken met het geverfde vliesofix uit.

Ook even gespeeld met 'Angelina' dat zij mij toestuurde.
Best wel spannend zo'n nieuwe speeltuin!

On a small piece of fabric covered with tulle, I tested different stitches and threads and 

had a first encounter with Angelina (she introduced me to her).
All these new possibilities are so exiting!

Goed gekeurd voor mijn nieuwe Braziliaanse quilt met hoog Samba gehalte!

Yep, I am going to use it for my new Brazilian quilt with a Samba swing!

My very first quilt

 About 20 years ago, during our first posting overseas, I went to a just opened quilt shop on Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta, Georgia.

With seeing all the fabrics I wanted to learn this craft right on the spot. Here is where I made my sampler in very soft tone colors, very modern for those days. Unfortunately the colors have faded over the years, especially during the years in Singapore where the sun rays were stronger then I expected... Or was the quality of the fabrics in those days not as good as they are now?

I managed to take this quilt out of the storage to take a picture and to decide if I take it with me to our next posting in Brazil or leave it here. Maybe I just take it, just to have my projects with me...
