Time to catch up!

Time flies when your having fun with family and friends: time to catch up!
During my busy home-leave in Holland I was still able to make two quilts for my son in Brooklyn.
The first one is the African quilt I started some time ago in Ghana

Machine quilting

There are 16x20 4"blocks in the center, the sashing is 2" wide and the outer border is made with 4" blocks. 43 Different African fabrics were used in this quilt

Adding on the binding with some help from a little friend

I cut the fabric in Ghana, pieced and quilted it by machine in Holland and added the binding while staying with my son in Brooklyn. ;)

Finished!

Just before going on home-leave I found these two fabrics at the local store where I buy my hand died fabrics. At that time I had no ides what I was going to make out of it.

Red, white and blue stars

In Holland I bought some beige linen from Shabby Chick and cut from all three fabrics strips of 2.5".

Wrong side looks good too!

This quilt is quilted by hand and I am very pleased with the result.
With these red, white and blue colours his dual nationality comes together in a fun way

Made with love
