One happy scrappy BD gift

DD has crossed the Atlantic Ocean again and is back in London.
We have had a wonderful time together and enjoyed our short trip to Rio!

Apple Pie time!

Bezoek! :-))
Nu eerst even bijkletsen met appeltaart.

DD is in town for just 1 week! We will go together to Rio next weekend, to watch the Carnival Champion's Parade! But first we have to chit 'nd chat with coffee and Dutch apple pie.
And meanwhile finish this small vest that's been laying around for too long now.

Fabrics in Brazil

When I say I live in Brazil, people respond with WOW!
I wonder what they imagine. They probably think Brazil is all beaches, parties, soccer, big boobs, food and colour! Well, all of that you can find in the touristic areas, like Rio de Janeiro, but living in a different country is not exactly the same as going there on a holiday.
Besides that, São Paulo is a bit more grey than Rio (more than 50 shades ;-))

Sometimes I get the question if there are any quilt fabrics available on the market.
Yes, there are; local as well as imported ones. The local fabrics are cheap, about US$3 per meter. There is not a big variety in the different brands and the quality is different from the imported fabrics.
The designs and colours of the local fabrics are not so much 'my cup of tea'.
For the small selection of imported fabrics you pay about 15 times more...

For the art quilter there is a lot to chose from, organza and tule in all sorts and colours, thanks to the Brazilian Carnival. When I leave Brazil, I will stock up on these
